Hello everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know we received a year end gift today at Sunnyside.  We have gone the required 28 days without any new Covid cases so our outbreak was declared over today.  In total we had 2 positive staff and 1 positive resident.  All three have completely recovered.  Thank you for your prayers, they have been answered.

We have opened the doors to all three of our neighbourhoods so our residents have much more freedom now, however, will continue to be careful and keep some outbreak precautions in place as Saskatoon is the covid hot spot in the province right now so our staff and residents are still at risk.

We are closely monitoring our residents from all neighbourhoods and at the present time no residents are showing any signs or symptoms of Covid-19.  Staff members with any signs or symptoms of covid isolate at home.

Health care residents, patients, staff, seniors in the community and isolated northern communities have been identified as a priority to receive the vaccine first, so I anticipate Sunnyside residents and staff to be vaccinated within the next two months as supplies arrive.  Even then we will still have to be careful.

All Public Health orders remain in effect so unfortunately we still can’t allow family visits.  The government will be revisiting Public Health orders mid-January to see if any changes should be made.

To check on how your loved one is doing, please call them if they have a telephone, or you can call our Recreation team at 306-653-1267 ext. 140 to arrange a Face Time visit or call our nurses on duty at 306-653-1267 ext. 124.

We remain fully staffed and have enough cleaning and personal protective supplies.

Happy new year to all!
