COVID-19 Updates as of May 5

RE: COVID-19 – Update from Sunnyside Dear Family & Friends of Sunnyside; We continue to be well at Sunnyside with no sick residents or staff.  We are being very vigilant and have tested a few residents for covid-19 because they showed influenza like symptoms but all have come back negative. There is a lot of excitement regarding Phase 1 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan which began yesterday.  It allows public access to previously restricted medical services and provides specific guidelines related to parks and campgrounds, boat launches, fishing and golf courses. A Public Health Order (https://www.saskatchewan.ca/-/media/files/coronavirus/public-health-measures/public-health-orders/order-may-3-2020-re-open-sk.pdf) is in place for [...]

COVID-19 Updates as of April 24

RE: COVID-19 – Update from Sunnyside Dear Family & Friends of Sunnyside; We continue to be well at Sunnyside with no sick residents or staff.  We keep adding more and more steps to be as safe as possible. The week of April 5 we decided to have our nursing staff started wearing masks when providing hands on care. The week of April 12 the Sask. Health Authority required all staff to wear a mask all the time.  This is not the home-like environment we have been trying to create over the past few years, however, as we learn more about [...]

RE: COVID-19 – Sunnyside’s Precautions as of April 6, 2020   As you can imagine, Sunnyside has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely.  At this time there are still no confirmed or presumed positive cases of COVID-19 at Sunnyside (Residents or staff).   The Government of Saskatchewan, the Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority have all activated their emergency operations centres to coordinate communication and planning. All long term care homes in the Saskatoon area have a conference call every morning with our local Health Authority representatives for updates.  We receive email updates from all three organizations many [...]

COVID-19 Updates as of March 19

RE: COVID-19 – Sunnyside’s Precautions as of March 19, 2020   We do not have any residents or staff that are ill with Covid-19. Family members have been very understanding regarding the Chief Medical Officer’s orders not to visit. There is a worldwide shortage of medical supplies. Surgical masks in particular.  Some items are on back order, some we receive partial shipments.  We continue to ask everyone to use only what we need. Residents are not to leave Sunnyside except for approved medical appointments. Extra Recreation staff added, Heather will be working to help alleviate resident boredom and loneliness. Our [...]
